Intentional was one of my words for 2021.
Spending a lot of my time in front of a computer or on my phone means that I have a lot of over-exposure to highlight reels. I find myself scrolling and watching Instagram Story after Instagram Story. And after a while, it makes me become irritated with my own life. We live in a world where everyone is sharing their
accomplishments
— “look at the workout I just did!”, “omg I just got this bag!”, and “I’m engaged!!!” — and I think it starts to take a toll on us. I know I’m guilty of sharing the good things. And it’s something I shouldn’t even have to feel guilty about. If I’m having a good day, you’re going to see me posting more on my platforms because I’m in a good mood. If I’m having a bad day, I’m more likely going to be silent because I just don’t feel like sharing.
I’m here to be the first one to tell you (and quite frankly, myself) that seeing other people’s accomplishments on social media are NOT checkpoints for your own life. In a way, we’re so caught up in what everyone else is doing that we lose sight of our own lives.
And that’s where being
intentional
comes into play.
I’ve been waking up every day with the
intention to be more intentional
. It’s something I 1000% need to make sure I’m aware of.
More intentional with my morning routine.
More intentional with projects at work.
More intentional with my yoga practice.
More intentional with my words in blog posts.
More intentional with my thoughts.
More intentional with my social media.
More intentional with my skin care routine.
More intentional with how much water I’m drinking.
More intentional with my relationships/friendships.
More intentional with my thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Being intentional allows you to be more aware. More present. More in tune with what YOU need, and the energy you want to give off to those around you. Instead of living like we’re on autopilot, living with intentions really puts a lot into perspective. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we need to live life a little bit differently than we’re used to. Right now is the perfect time to take things day by day. So I challenge you to wake up and set some sort of intention. Or set the intention to go through your day
intentionally
. I promise your thoughts will shift dramatically!
